History

Having ran degree programmes over a decade, Management of Garden City University College (GCUC) deemed it necessary to offer postgraduate degree programmes to enable GCUC Alumni progress further on the educational ladder. In view of this The School of Graduate Studies and Research was established.

The first programme to be introduced was Master of Science in Midwifery. GCUC entered into collaboration with University of Calabar (UNICAL) to award certificates to the MSc. Midwifery Students upon their graduation. This was because no institution in Ghana at the time offered Midwifery at the Postgraduate Level. Subsequently a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in June 2020 and in October 2021 an accreditation was obtained for the commencement of the program.

The MSc. Midwifery Progamme admitted its first batch of students in August 2022. GCUC, therefore became one of the few private institutions in Ghana to offer distinctive and competitive higher level education in the health and allied health sciences.
